What’s New

Packing your suitcase for the Streamlining Healthcare Conference may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s actually pretty important. The fact is, what you pack – or don’t pack – can easily impact your entire conference experience. For the newer travelers, definitely review your conference itinerary in advance.

Sit down and really think about what you’ll use, and what you’ll wear, during your time on-site. Here are the basics for your suitcase:

  • Business cards. Plan on meeting lots of new faces throughout the conference!
  • Comfortable shoes. Wear comfortable shoes you’ve already broken in. Expect to do more walking through the hotel each day than you would on a typical work day.
  • Notebook and pens. Jot down notes on paper and not on your phone; taking notes on a mobile device during presentations makes you look like you’re playing on the internet.
  • Essential technology. Don’t forget your phone charger. Bring a small laptop or tablet in lieu of your bulky office laptop, and always pack the power cords.
  • One extra outfit. Maybe you’ll wear it, maybe you won’t, but it never hurts to pack one extra change of clothes.
  • A jacket. Chicago evenings in September can be on the cooler side, especially for the folks from Southern climates.
  • One final note: If you’re travelling with a carry-on bag, make sure your toiletries are packed to TSA standards. Check out the TSA’s Travel Checklist for details.
